On the 14th of June 2021, the Income Tax Department released a new income tax portal with the goal of providing taxpayers with a more user-friendly, modern, and seamless experience.

On its official Twitter account, the department announced the launch of the new e-filing portal and stated that it would be accessible soon. It will benefit taxpayers in a variety of ways and simplify the tax payment process.

Advantages of IT Filing Portal


The new online portal will give various benefits to taxpayers and will improve the return filing procedure easier and more convenient for them.

  • Free Income Tax Returns (ITR) preparation software for forms ITR-1,4 (online and offline) and ITR-2 is available through the new income tax filing portal (offline).
  • The new portal is integrated with the processing of ITs, allowing taxpayers to receive a timely refund. The new programme will be user-friendly and simple to use for taxpayers.
  • It will also help taxpayers complete income tax forms, respond to various inspections and appeals, and add tax professionals.
  • On the new online tax portal, taxpayers will be able to access a single dashboard to help them with different interactions and uploads. On the new tax portal, users can also conveniently track all of their pending claims.
  • In an effort to help people and make the taxation procedure as simple as possible, the income tax department will set up a new call centre.
  • On the new e-portal, taxpayers can update all of their professional records, such as salary, housing rent, and other important information about their firm, which will be used when filing ITRs.

Highlights of New Income Tax Portal

The new income tax portal will provide thorough frequently asked questions (FAQ), a chat box, video, and a live agent to help taxpayers learn the new portal’s features.
The portal also includes a reminder about the required compliance, encouraging taxpayers to complete all pending files.
Taxpayers can now pre-fill their salary income, interest, and profits, and all cash flows will be reflected after TDS and SFT deductions.
-The new portal will also include a new online tax payment system with multiple payment alternatives including net banking, credit card, UPI, NEFT, and RTGS for quick tax payment.

  • They must re-register their Digital Signature Certificate (DSC), as the old DSCs are not copied due to security concerns.
